KEA is an interactive and object oriented program for analyzing slope stability, earth pressure and bearing capacity problems by using the Kinematic Element Analysis (KEA) principles.

KEA can model and analyze general failure mechanisms like the ones that are usually found in geotechnics e.g. slope stability, determination of anchor length, or bearing capacity verifications. KEA can also be designated as a general form of the so called 'block slip method'.

The result of the calculation depend on the conceptual formulation of a stability safety (e.g. analog the definition of Fellenius) or a resulting active or passive earth pressure force. KEA should always be used if the situation is not to or cannot be modeled by the regulations or codes (like e.g. earth pressure determination due to DIN 4085, slope stability / bearing capacity / slip circle due to DIN 4084, bearing capacity due to DIN 4017 etc. ).

This is usually the case, if for example concentrated loads, geometric restraints, or slip layers cause the formation of slip surfaces, that can not build failure mechanisms with the simplifications suggested by the codes.

The advantage with general formulations implemented by the program is that such simplifications are not necessary any longer. The program also includes complete calculation, design and dimensioning of Soil Nailing structures.
